EarthyVeg’s THREE CITY ADVENTURE - DAY FOUR

CITY #2 – PHILADELPHIA

Day One

The hotel shuttle dropped us off at Newark Penn Station. There were two options to Philadelphia. Take the Amtrak or spend about ½ as much and take a combination of NJ Transit / Philadelphia Septa. We decided on the cheaper route plus if we rode Septa we could take it into the Suburban station which would be a short walk to the hotel. The trip might have taken a little longer but I think it was worth it. We stayed in the Rittenhouse Square area at the AKA. It was a great location. It is an extended stay type of hotel so we got a small suite with a small fridge and microwave. It was small but nice. The hotel wasn’t ready for us the check in so we dropped off our luggage then took the bus to Blackbird. For this trip we decided to get pizza. We shared 1 slice of “South Philly” and one slice of “Fungi”. Momma Veg like the Fungi slice so much we got another one to share. We had a nice conversation with the girl behind the register. Before heading back to the hotel we got a Tofu Cubano to take back for dinner along with a pumpkin whoopie pie and an oatmeal raisin cookie.

After resting up a little we decided to walk down to the City Hall visitor center. If you have ever been to Philly then you know that the City Hall is an absolutely gorgeous building. You can see it about anywhere you are downtown. We grabbed a few brochures at the visitor’s center then headed to the nearby Septa to get a couple to tokens so the bus rides would be a little cheaper. Then we headed back to the hotel to get some rest for the next day.
